GENZA Notice on Criminal Background Checks and Identity Verification
Version: 1.0
Effective Date: March 31, 2026
1. Purpose of this Notice
This Notice explains whether and how GENZA conducts criminal background checks and identity or profile verification checks in connection with our website, applications, and related services (the “Services”).
This Notice is intended to provide clear information to our community and to support disclosure obligations that may apply to online dating services under certain U.S. state laws and consumer protection standards.
This Notice should be read together with the GENZA Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and Safety & Safe Dating Tips.
2. Criminal Background Checks
2.1 No routine criminal background checks on users
GENZA DOES NOT CONDUCT ROUTINE CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ON ITS USERS AND DOES NOT SYSTEMATICALLY SEARCH CRIMINAL RECORDS, COURT RECORDS, LAW-ENFORCEMENT DATABASES, OR SEX-OFFENDER REGISTRIES FOR EVERY PERSON WHO REGISTERS AN ACCOUNT.
Like many other dating and social discovery services, GENZA does not perform comprehensive criminal background screening on all users before they are allowed to use the Services.
Because GENZA does not conduct comprehensive criminal background checks on all users:
we cannot confirm whether any particular user has or does not have a criminal record;
we cannot guarantee that a user has not been convicted of a crime or is not subject to legal restrictions;
we cannot guarantee that interacting with or meeting another user through GENZA will be safe.
2.2 Limited reviews and enforcement actions
Although GENZA does not conduct routine criminal background checks on all users, we may, in limited circumstances and where permitted by law:
review user reports, internal safety signals, device or account integrity signals, and publicly available information when assessing possible violations of our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines, or safety rules;
take action, including restricting, suspending, or terminating accounts, if we become aware that an account may present a serious safety risk, particularly in cases involving violence, sexual misconduct, fraud, coercion, harassment, or exploitation;
cooperate with law enforcement, courts, or regulators where required by law or where reasonably necessary to respond to serious safety incidents.
GENZA is not a consumer reporting agency and does not provide background check services to users or third parties.
3. Identity Verification and Profile Verification
3.1 No comprehensive identity verification for all users
GENZA DOES NOT CONDUCT COMPREHENSIVE LEGAL IDENTITY VERIFICATION CHECKS ON ALL USERS.
Most users can access the Services without undergoing a full legal identity review. Unless GENZA expressly states otherwise, we do not systematically verify the following for every user:
legal name;
government-issued identification number;
citizenship, immigration, or residency status;
employment, financial, or other offline background information.
Even when GENZA offers verification-related features, those features are not the same as a full legal identity check and do not guarantee that a user is exactly who they claim to be in all respects.
3.2 Limited or risk-based verification features
GENZA may use limited or risk-based verification tools intended to reduce fake accounts, bots, impersonation, fraud, or underage access. Depending on the product flow, region, or risk signals, these tools may include email or phone confirmation, device and account integrity checks, profile review, selfie-based checks, liveness checks, age-gating, or similar trust and safety measures.
If such features are offered, the following applies:
they may be optional, selective, limited to certain users, limited to certain regions, or used only in connection with specific risk-based reviews;
they are intended to improve trust, authenticity, and safety, but they do not guarantee that a user has no criminal history or that the user will behave safely;
they do not constitute a criminal background check;
where biometric or identity-related data is collected, GENZA will describe the relevant processing in its Privacy Policy and, where required by law, obtain additional notice or consent and apply additional protections.
3.3 What “verified” or similar labels mean
If GENZA displays a “verified” badge, status, or similar label, that label should be understood only in the limited context described in the relevant feature flow or notice.
Unless GENZA expressly states otherwise, a “verified” label does not mean that GENZA has:
completed a criminal background check;
confirmed all information in a user’s profile;
guaranteed the user’s identity, intent, honesty, or safety;
endorsed the user or certified that interactions with that user will be safe.
4. Your Responsibility and Use of Caution
No background check, screening tool, or identity verification process is perfect. Records may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, unavailable, or not legally accessible. Some harmful conduct is never reported or never appears in public databases.
You are responsible for your own interactions with other users, both online and offline. In particular, you should:
use your own judgment when deciding whether to interact with, trust, meet, or continue engaging with another user;
review the GENZA Safety & Safe Dating Tips for practical guidance on online safety, in-person meetings, consent, and personal boundaries;
avoid sending money, financial information, passwords, codes, or other sensitive information to people you meet through GENZA;
use the in-app report, block, and related safety tools if you encounter suspicious, abusive, deceptive, or harmful behavior;
contact local emergency services, such as 911 in the United States, if you believe you are in immediate danger.
GENZA works to support a respectful and safer user experience, but GENZA is not responsible for the conduct, identity, intentions, legitimacy, or truthfulness of any user on or off the Services.
5. State-Specific Disclosures
Certain U.S. states require online dating services to provide clear disclosures regarding criminal background checks, identity verification practices, and user safety information. This Notice is intended, among other things, to:
clearly state whether GENZA conducts criminal background checks or identity verification checks on users;
clarify that GENZA does not conduct routine criminal background checks or comprehensive legal identity verification checks on all users;
remind users that they remain responsible for using caution and reviewing available safety resources.
GENZA may also provide additional state-specific disclosures or safety notices within the Services or on our website where appropriate.
6. Changes to This Notice
GENZA may update this Notice from time to time, including if we change our approach to screening, verification, or safety features, or if applicable law or guidance changes.
When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this Notice and may provide additional notice where required by law.
7. Contact
If you have questions about this Notice or about GENZA’s safety or verification practices, please contact us through the support tools made available in the Services or via the contact information listed in our Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.
